The Cappadocia region’s most upscale and contemporary tourist city, Urgup has a number of lovely hotels, many built in and around centuries-old cave dwellings. The city and its surrounding area are known for their mysterious fairy chimneys, early Christian rock churches and fine vineyards. A mix of ancient and modern, Urgup is a center for traditional handmade carpets, but also has a lively nightlife. Hot air ballooning is very popular, and a fantastic way to see the beauty of landscape from above.
Cappadocia is located in the Central Anatolian region and easy to reach. One way to get to Cappadocia is to take a direct flight from any of the major airports in Turkey to either Kayseri Airport or Nevşehir Cappadocia Airport both of which are quite close to the region. The shuttles and other transportation vehicles stationed outside of the exit gate will take you the right destination in a short time.
Alternatively Cappadocia can be reached via highway. Nevşehir is located at the intersection point of highways and offers regular transportation between any city of Turkey and Nevşehir. The shuttles and similar transportation devices leaving from the Nevşehir Central Bus station will take you Cappadocia shortly.
The fastest and most comfortable way to reach Cappadocia is to use the airway. Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR) located in Kayseri is nearly one hour driving to the Cappadocia region. Turkish Airlines operates several direct (nonstop) flights from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (IST) to Kayseri Erkilet Airport.
